Dear %first_name%,
An essay I wrote titled "Biker Dad and Two-Wheel Tranquility" was published last month (May) in the anthology
For Daddy With Love.
The book is a cache of 60+ short stories, quotes, and anecdotes from daughters aged 5 to 70 that reveal the
complex themes in the daughter/father relationship. Drawing from all walks
of life, these moving personal narratives are sure to bring a smile, sigh, laugh, or tear to your eye.
(And it made a great Father's Day gift for those hard-to-buy for fathers - sorry I didn't get this out earlier!)
"Biker Dad and Two-Wheel Tranquilty" is a sweetly humorous look at what I learned about life by riding motorcycles
with my father. An excerpt:
My motorcycle is silver and black with just the right amount of chrome. My father has a vibrant multi-colored
helmet with a half-naked lady on the back - a close-out sale find. It is so incongruous with this 60-some-year-old
father and his rather conservative motorcycle that I want to laugh out loud. Instead I swing my leg over my bike
and settle into the seat. I turn the key and hit the switch. I can't resist twisting the throttle just to hear
that distinctive motorcycle "growl."
TAIKO DRUMMING NEWS ... If you're interested in seeing a high-energy, entertaining show, consider attending
"Passing the Beat" - a taiko recital for student and professional taiko performers. I'll be performing a brief solo
on the REALLY BIG drum (Odaiko) in a piece titled Samurai Moon.
